Hallow's End is World of Warcraft's Halloween event. However, it has a slightly different story, based on the game's ever-expanding lore. This guide outlines everything you need to know about World of Warcraft Halloween 2022, including the Headless Horseman boss location, requirements, and drops, as well as items and rewards, quests, and more available to players.
According to World of Warcraft lore, Halloween celebrates the day a group of undead break free from the Lich King. This group came to be known as the Forsaken because they regained their free will. It celebrates by lighting a Wickerman.
Halloween is also used by the Alliance to celebrate the end of the harvest in Lordaeron. Speaking of humans, there's an interesting note in Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, apparently, the Alliance celebrated Halloween before the Scourge in Lordaeron.
World of Warcraft Halloween 2022 start and end dates
As with all World of Warcraft Halloween doomsdays, the 2022 version has a start date of October 18th. Expected to close on November 1, 2022.
As such, the inhabitants of Azeroth have about two weeks to do everything they want from Halloween, including completing achievements, enjoying the festivities, and killing the Headless Horseman over and over for some creepy Booty.
Warcraft Headless Horseman boss locations and loot
As the Halloween boss of World of Warcraft Halloween, the Headless Horseman is located in the Scarlet Monastery. Players must queue for encounters through the dungeon finder, otherwise, the Headless Horseman will not appear.
This is a 5-player skirmish for players level 10 to 60 in Halloween 2022.
Headless Horseman loot includes:
The Horseman's Ring
Seal of Ghoulish Glee
Band of the Petrified Pumpkin
Wicked Witch's Signet
The loot pumpkin drops are only available to players of level 55 or higher. The main prize everyone wants is the knight's reins mount.
Loot Pumpkin Drops:
The Horseman's Sinister Slicer
The Horseman's Horrific Hood
The Horseman's Reins
Magic Broom
Sinister Squashling
Hallowed Helm
By killing the Headless Horseman every day during World of Warcraft's Halloween 2022 event, you can transform yourself into a rider with his sword, headgear, mount, and an evil little pumpkin to follow you. In our opinion, it's worth a try!
The Shade of the Horseman Events and Rewards
Want some riding broomsticks to quench your inner witch? You'll need to participate in the "Shade of the Horseman" event for World of Warcraft Halloween.
In low-level villages of the Alliance and Horde, players can complete the firefighting quest provided by Marton in the area, and then defeat the Shade of the Horseman.
Alliance villages to protect:
Goldshire
Azure Watch
Kharanos
Horde villages to protect:
Falconwing Square
Brill
Razor Hill
After extinguishing the fire and defeating the enemy's Shade of the Horseman, a jack-o-lantern will appear on the ground. Click it to get a quest called "Crush the Pumpkin", then turn it in to the Mistress to get a roughly wrapped gift and some gold. Roughly wrapped gifts can be opened for riding brooms, candy, and masks.
Halloween Garrison Decorations and Ghost Supplies
You can decorate your fort during Halloween. Izzy Hollyfizzle sells decorations to players, and Pepe has a Tiny Scarecrow Costume for you, so don't miss out.
Decorations can be purchased with Ghost Supplies. You can earn Ghost Supplies by completing the following four daily quests.
Culling the Crew - 1x Spooky Supplies
Foul Fertilizer - 1x Spooky Supplies
Smashing Squashlings - 1x Spooky Supplies
Mutiny on the Boneship - 2x Spooky Supplies
Each of the five fortress decorations for Halloween 2022 requires five ghost supplies, so you'll have to complete all daily quests within five days to get them all set.
Tricky Treats and Items for Halloween 2022
There are plenty of items to buy during Halloween 2022, including creepy chests that give players battle pets, from evil squash to Naxie and more.
You can also buy creepy creepers in strongholds to spawn wild pets, namely:
Spectral Spinner
Ghastly Rat
Ghost Maggot
This isn't the only Halloween item, and it's even far from it. Players can earn candy by trick-or-treating, providing various stat buffs when consumed.
Speaking of dessert, players can buy Hallow's End Pumpkin Treat from Katrina Shimmerstar (Alliance) or Rachelle Gothena (Horde), depending on the effect you get.
Large and orange, 5% chance to increase the time between attacks by 25% and reduce movement speed by 30%.
Pirate disguise and 50% swim speed increase.
Skeleton transformation and underwater breathing.
Spectral tint and levitate.
Then there's the disguise to buy 200 Tricky Treats, each with 50 charges.
How to Get Tricky Treats in World of Warcraft
There are many tricky treats you can grow during World of Warcraft's 2022 Halloween event. Check out how to get more Tricky Treats below:
At the highest tier, complete up to 17 Tricky Treats daily quests per day.
Complete a one-time Halloween mission to get 10 tricky treats.
Earn 4 to 6 Tricky Treats in a loot-filled pumpkin by killing the Headless Horseman.
Remove up to three Tricky Treats from each candy bucket.
Convert ghost supplies in your stronghold into tricky treats.
As you can see, there's no shortage of ways to get Tricky Treats, but probably the quickest way is to open those candy buckets in Azeroth.
World of Warcraft Halloween 2022 Candy Bucket
Pumpkin buckets have appeared in every hotel for Halloween 2022. These candy buckets are located near the innkeeper, and each provides a one-time quest.
Players can complete these tasks to earn coins and a handful of treats. These treats contain one to three Tricky Treat items, and they also have the opportunity to include treats, masks, and more.
Interacting with one of these candy buckets can also debuff the player (skill), ranging from frogs to bats, pixies and mini Diablos.
Want to find all the candy buckets in World of Warcraft's Halloween event? WoWHead has covered all Candy Barrel locations in Kalimdor for the Horde and Alliance. We recommend using the Wowhead Looter plugin to quickly get the locations of all the candy buckets in WoW Hallow's End 2022.
After all, interacting with all the candy buckets in your faction's inn will earn you achievements.
Note that to see the Candy Barrel in some areas, max-level players will first need to talk to an NPC named Zidormi in Silithus or Darkshore.
Halloween 2022 Wickerman Festival Buffs
During the World of Warcraft Halloween event, players can earn Wickerman's Festival buffs every four hours.
You'll see a notification that Wickerman Festival is about to begin, and after 10 minutes, players can get a buff from either Genn Greymane or Sylvanas. The latter is outside the Undercity, while the former is outside Stormwind. This requires the player to be near the relevant NPC at the start of the Wicker Man Festival.
For the Alliance, this buff is called Unburdened, and for the Horde, it's called Grim Visage. Both buffs are the same, giving the player a 10% experience and reputation buff for two hours.
That's all we know about World of Warcraft's Halloween 2022 event, including all the details on the Headless Horseman and other scary things players can do as they celebrate Halloween.
