Diablo 4 Hotfix 4: Warlock Builds to Retest and Farms to Avoid in Season 15

Diablo 4 Season 15 has received a new Hotfix addressing several issues with Fiend of Abbadon, Prime Evil Council, The Butcher, and Wirt's Lucky Coin, along with several Seasonal Reputation and Crafting Materials problems.

For players, the biggest questions are simple: which Warlock Builds need to be retested, which Farming methods should be avoided, and what Season 15 progression issues have been fixed?

What Does Diablo 4 Hotfix 4 Fix?

Hotfix 4 mainly addresses bugs and unintended gameplay interactions rather than introducing a broad class balance update. The changes cover Warlock damage, XP and Loot Farming, seasonal rewards, Crafting Materials, and Tristram content.

The Hotfix also fixes unintended damage involving Old Mountain Talisman and Grief, some Class Quest completion issues, and a Switch 2 Variant Skills issue.

Warlock Fiend of Abbadon Damage Fixed

One of the most important changes for Warlock players concerns Fiend of Abbadon.

Blizzard fixed an issue where the Lesser Demon Bonus upgrade could cause Warlocks to deal unintended damage. The upgrade has now been re-enabled.

If your current Build uses Fiend of Abbadon, this does not automatically mean you need to replace your entire setup. Instead, retest the Build after the Hotfix and compare its performance under normal gameplay.

If you also use Old Mountain Talisman with its five-set bonus and Grief, check that setup separately. Blizzard fixed an unintended damage interaction involving those items as well.

Prime Evil Council and Infinite Butcher Farms Are Fixed

Hotfix 4 also closes two Farming methods that relied on unintended mechanics.

Prime Evil Council

The Prime Evil Council could previously provide excessive XP and Loot under certain circumstances. Blizzard has fixed the issue and increased the cooldown for the Council to grant Loot.

If your Season 15 progression relied heavily on repeatedly farming the Council, you should now move to other Endgame activities rather than continuing to use the previous Farming loop.

The Butcher

The Hotfix also fixes the infinite Butcher spawn issue.

Normal Butcher encounters remain part of the game, but the repeated spawn method is no longer available as a Farming strategy. Players who were using it for repeated XP or Loot should return to regular activities such as The Pit, Helltides, Kurast Undercity, and normal Boss content.

Wirt's Lucky Coin and the Tristram Portal

Hotfix 4 fixes an issue with the Tristram Fountain and Wirt's Lucky Coin.

Before the fix, the Coin could sometimes be consumed without successfully opening the Tristram portal. The interaction has now been fixed.

If you previously lost a Wirt's Lucky Coin because the portal failed to open, you can retry the interaction after updating the game.

This is a mechanics fix rather than a reward or drop-rate change, so it does not indicate any change to Tristram's reward chances.

Old Mountain Talisman, Undercity and Reputation Fixes

Several other fixes affect Season 15 progression.

Old Mountain Talisman + Grief: Blizzard fixed unintended damage caused by the Old Mountain Talisman's five-set bonus when combined with Grief. Players using this setup should retest their damage after the Hotfix.

Kurast Undercity: Associated Tributes should now correctly provide the relevant Horadric Cube Crafting Materials.

Seasonal Reputation: Resplendent Caches from Seasonal Reputation should now correctly grant Resplendent Spark.

The Hotfix also addresses certain Class Quest completion problems and a Switch 2 Variant Skills issue.

What Changed for Season 15 Farming?

For players mainly concerned about Farming, the changes can be summarized quickly:

The practical takeaway is that Season 15 Farming should now focus on normal Endgame activities instead of relying on the unintended mechanics addressed by Hotfix 4.

Do You Need a New Warlock Build?

For most Warlock players, Hotfix 4 does not mean you need to completely rebuild your character.

The main Build-related change is the Fiend of Abbadon Lesser Demon Bonus fix. If your character is already geared, test the current setup first before changing Skills, Equipment, or the entire Build.

Pay particular attention to:

• Fiend of Abbadon: Retest your current damage.
• Lesser Demon Bonus: Check that the upgrade works correctly.
• Old Mountain Talisman + Grief: Recheck the setup if you use both.
• Pit performance: Compare your current Build under normal gameplay.

The better approach after this Hotfix is to verify your current Build first, then make changes based on its actual performance.
