If you’ve started upgrading gear through the Masterworking system in Diablo 4 Season 12, you’ve probably realized one thing very quickly — Obducite runs out fast.
Every early Masterwork upgrade consumes this material, and if you're optimizing multiple gear pieces for endgame builds, your supply can disappear in just a few upgrades. That’s why so many players are constantly searching for a reliable Obducite farm in Diablo 4 that doesn’t involve endless inefficient grinding.
The good news is that several activities in Season 12 still provide excellent returns if you focus on the right content. Instead of farming randomly, understanding the best way to farm Obducite in Diablo 4 can dramatically speed up your progress.
Below are some of the most efficient methods players are currently using to keep their Obducite reserves full.

Obducite is one of the main Diablo 4 Masterworking materials, primarily used for upgrading gear during the early stages of the Masterworking process.
You’ll spend Obducite when upgrading:
Masterwork Rank 1 → 4
Multiple gear pieces during build optimization
Early endgame gear upgrades
Later Masterworking levels begin to require Ingolith and Neathiron, but even then, Obducite remains a critical resource for preparing new items or adjusting builds.
Because of this, knowing how to get Obducite in Diablo 4 efficiently becomes extremely important once you reach Torment difficulty.
While many activities in the game drop small amounts of Masterworking materials, only a few are truly worth focusing on if your goal is fast Obducite farming in Diablo 4.
Here are the most efficient options.
One of the biggest Obducite jackpots in Season 12 comes from Treasure Breach Nightmare Dungeons.
When this affix appears on a Nightmare Sigil, the dungeon fills with waves of Treasure Goblins. Normally goblins are nice little bonuses, but inside Nightmare Dungeons they become incredibly valuable because each one drops a significant amount of Obducite.
Most players report somewhere between 600 and 1,500 Obducite per goblin, which means a good run can easily reach 10,000 to 20,000 or more.
The only challenge is rolling the right sigil.
Sigils are crafted at the Occultist using Sigil Powder, and the affixes are random. The trick many experienced players use is saving their powder until they reach Torment 4 difficulty. Higher Torment tiers seem to roll valuable affixes like Treasure Breach more often, which makes large crafting batches much more efficient.
Once you land the affix, speed becomes the priority. Clearing the dungeon quickly and chasing goblin spawns matters far more than carefully fighting the final boss.
If Treasure Breach dungeons are the jackpot, Infernal Hordes are the steady paycheck.
During the event you collect Burning Aether while fighting wave after wave of enemies. After defeating the Fell Council, that Aether can be exchanged for reward chests. Choosing the Spoils of Materials option guarantees Masterworking materials, including Obducite.
Many players run the shorter 6-wave version for speed, but 10-wave runs usually produce more Obducite per hour.
On Torment 4 difficulty, a solid run normally lands somewhere around 2,000 to 5,000 Obducite, depending on how much Aether you collect.
A simple trick to improve results is focusing on Hellborne enemies and elite packs, which drop far more Aether than regular mobs.
Another reason Infernal Hordes stay popular is that they also drop gear with Greater Affixes, so you're improving your character while farming materials instead of splitting those activities apart.
Players with the Vessel of Hatred expansion have another strong option: Kurast Undercity.
The dungeon works on a timer system. Killing enemies quickly extends the timer and increases your Attunement rank, which directly improves the final rewards.
Before entering, most players use a Tribute of Refinement, which guarantees Masterworking materials in the reward chest and sometimes doubles the payout.
With Torment 4 difficulty and Rank 4 Attunement, a successful run typically rewards 2,000 to 5,000 or more Obducite.
The activity works fine solo, but it really shines in groups. Coordinated teams clear faster, maintain the timer more easily, and hit maximum attunement far more consistently.
When the Season 12 changes were first announced, many players assumed Horadric Strongrooms would no longer be worth running.
In reality, they’re still perfectly viable.
A single Strongroom run on Torment 4 can still deliver around 2,500 Obducite, sometimes more with high attunement.
The reason players keep using this method is simple: it’s fast.
Instead of fully clearing a dungeon, many players reroll sigils until they get the Strongroom affix, enter the dungeon, locate the Strongroom chest, collect the materials, and reset.
If you only have 10–15 minutes to play, this quick loop can be one of the most convenient ways to keep your Obducite supply growing.
Another small trick many players forget about is material transmutation.
At the Alchemist, higher-tier Masterworking materials like Ingolith or Neathiron can be converted into Obducite at a 1:3 ratio.
This isn't meant to replace farming, but it can be surprisingly useful when:
you're short on Obducite for upgrades
you've stockpiled higher-tier materials
you're cleaning up inventory after long farming sessions
It’s a simple way to smooth out material shortages during heavy Masterworking.
Most players eventually settle into a rotation instead of grinding one activity endlessly.
Longer sessions often mix Treasure Breach Nightmare Dungeons with Infernal Hordes. The combination balances huge RNG spikes with consistent income.
Players with less time usually lean toward Horadric Strongroom resets, since each run only takes a few minutes.
Groups tend to favor Kurast Undercity, where coordination makes it easier to hit maximum rewards repeatedly.
There isn't a single perfect farming method—just different routes that work better depending on how you prefer to play.
Obducite farming in Diablo 4 Season 12 hasn't been completely reinvented, but the most efficient methods are clear.
Whichever route you choose, building a healthy stockpile of Obducite makes Masterworking far less frustrating—and lets you get back to the real goal of Season 12: pushing your build as far as it can go.
