Duping items seems to be the nostalgic endgame chase for many Diablo players since Diablo 1. But recently, Duping is back in Patch 2.5 for Diablo 2!

What is Duping in Diablo 2 Resurrected?

Simply put, Duping means duplicating the same new item from an item in your Diablo 2 Resurrected inventory. When an item is duped, everything about the item is duplicated, including a hidden value called the unique item ID.

In the past in Diablo 1, it didn't serve much purpose, when you duplicate an item, they would eventually find out that you were duplicating the item, and then they would delete the duplicate. In Diablo 2 Resurrected, very similar to 1, you can duplicate any items you want, but they really had no way to stop it, so they started adding something called a unique Item ID. The unique item ID will check and see if the item already exists. When two players on the server save and register the same item with the same unique item ID, the server keeps the youngest one. The next time an unlucky older item player joins the game, their item copy will disappear. This self-created state of server instability may be the source of how this D2R 2.5 dupe glitch works.

Although Blizzard has always prohibited dupe glitches in Diablo 2 Resurrected, a player in the community said that he accidentally duping items after overloading his stash with crafted rings. Some duped items will wander around in Ladder Season 2. It is recommended that you purchase and exchange them with reliable people.

    1. Log in to D2R

    2. Put the item you want to dispute into the shared stash

    3. Any character can enter any game difficulty

    4. Then flashback to your game as soon as the save icon appears in the bottom right corner

    5. Re-login the game, the automatic duping is successful

D2R Patch 2.5 Single Player Dupe Item Methods On PS5

    1. Backup your savegame

    2. Go offline and start the game

    3. Any character of any difficulty joins the game

    4. Put the items you want to dupe from your shared stash into your inventory

    5. Save and exit

    6. In the main menu, use X to select characters and O to cancel

    7. Repeat until you see the pentagram in the lower right corner

    8. Then exit via PS Menu

Which Items To Dupe In Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.5?

In theory, you can duplicate any d2r items in your inventory. Duplicating regular items doesn't seem to be worth your time, so people always duplicate valuable items, and the higher the value, the better the items they duplicate. Also, there are ways to deal with some duplicate items, one of the most common duplicate items is actually runes, especially high-level runes, as tested by player Cooley on Youtuber.

The Method To Prevent Duped Runes Being Removed in D2R Patch 2.5

The interesting thing about a transformation rune is that it changes the unique item identifier and allows you to get another item, creating  rune words also creates a unique item identifier. So, if you've traded a high rune recently and you think it might be duped, crafting the  rune word is a way to keep the rune from taking it from you.

So if you're crafting a specific runeword, don't let it sit in your inventory for a long time, because if it's a duplicate rune, it might get knocked out. However, if you use that rune to create a rune word, it doesn't break the process of creating a runeword, it actually creates a new unique item ID, which allows the ID to change and prevents it from being detected and removed by the system.
