Hotel Tickets are one of the most important new currencies introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0. They're not earned through selling items or daily chores, but through activities tied directly to the Resort Hotel on your island's pier.
If you're interested in exclusive furniture, hotel-themed décor, or rare Nintendo collectibles, Hotel Tickets are something you'll be interacting with regularly. Understanding how to earn them efficiently—and when to spend them—makes a noticeable difference in long-term progression.
This guide explains how Hotel Tickets work in ACNH, how to unlock the Resort Hotel, the best ways to earn tickets, and what makes them worth saving.

Hotel Tickets are a special currency tied to the Resort Hotel on your island's pier. Unlike Bells, you can't earn them by selling fish, bugs, or turnips.
They're exclusively used at Grams's Souvenir Shop inside the Resort Hotel, where you'll find items you cannot buy anywhere else—hotel furniture, themed clothing, décor sets, and even classic Nintendo consoles.
If you care about island aesthetics or rare collectibles, Hotel Tickets matter.
The Resort Hotel becomes available after progressing through the main island milestones.
To unlock it, players must:
After K.K. Slider's performance, Isabelle will announce that a new hotel has opened on the pier. Visiting the hotel and decorating the first guest room officially activates all Resort Hotel features, including Hotel Tickets.
Hotel Tickets are earned by helping operate the Resort Hotel. There are three main ways to obtain them, with room decoration being the primary source.
Decorating guest rooms is the most reliable way to earn Hotel Tickets.
Decorating Rooms 1–8 for the first time rewards 200 Hotel Tickets per room
Decorating the VIP Room for the first time also rewards 200 Hotel Tickets
After all rooms are completed, redecorating any room once per day grants 200 Hotel Tickets
Each room comes with a theme, and the hotel provides all necessary furniture during the decoration process. Personal inventory is not required, making this method accessible even to newer players.
After unlocking the Resort Hotel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a DIY request box will appear outside the hotel on the pier. This box provides crafting requests that allow players to earn Hotel Tickets, the exclusive currency used at Grams's Souvenir Shop.
Each request asks for a specific DIY-crafted item. Players must gather the required materials, craft the item at a DIY workbench, and submit it to the request box. After submission, Hotel Tickets are rewarded immediately. There is no daily limit on how many DIY items can be submitted, making this one of the most reliable secondary methods for farming Hotel Tickets in ACNH.
The first set of DIY requests completed each day grants a bonus multiplier, increasing the number of Hotel Tickets earned. In addition, completing DIY requests contributes to the Resort Hotel's brand recognition level. As the hotel's popularity increases, more rare and valuable items become available in Grams's Souvenir Shop, including exclusive furniture and themed collectibles.
Another way to obtain Hotel Tickets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is by helping visiting tourists check into the Resort Hotel. Tourists may appear wandering around your island with a thought bubble above their head. When spoken to, they will explain that they want to stay on the island but have not yet booked accommodation.
By guiding these tourists to the Resort Hotel and checking them into an available room, players can earn additional Hotel Tickets. Each successful check-in rewards approximately 50 Hotel Tickets. While this method is not as efficient as decorating hotel rooms, it provides a steady source of passive Hotel Tickets during normal island exploration.
Hotel Tickets are used exclusively at Grams's Souvenir Shop, which is located in the lobby of the Resort Hotel. This shop does not accept Bells or Nook Miles, making Hotel Tickets the only way to purchase its items.
Grams offers a rotating selection of exclusive rewards, including hotel-themed furniture, clothing, decorative items, and special collectibles. Players can also order items from Grams's catalog, but catalog orders cost approximately 30% more Hotel Tickets than buying items directly from the shop.
As the Resort Hotel's Brand Recognition increases through room designs and DIY submissions, additional souvenir tiers are unlocked. These higher tiers introduce rare furniture sets and special Nintendo-themed items. Since Hotel Ticket purchases cannot be refunded, saving tickets for high-value or limited-availability items is generally recommended.
Grams organizes her inventory into multiple tiers that expand as your hotel's Brand Recognition grows. Each tier introduces new items and higher-value rewards.
These items are available as soon as the shop opens and feature official Resort Hotel branding. They are affordable and ideal for early Hotel Ticket spending.
Common items include hotel-themed clothing such as Aloha shirts, cardigans, and tees, along with small souvenirs like mugs, snow globes, pennants, and wall clocks. Prices in this tier are relatively low, making it easy to pick up cosmetic items without heavy ticket investment.
After increasing hotel popularity, Grams begins stocking full furniture sets that cannot be purchased from Nook's Cranny or Nook Shopping.
Notable sets include the Tubular Set, a modern metal furniture series, and the Artful Set, which features minimalist wooden furniture with customizable fabric. At higher mid-tier levels, the Marble Set becomes available, offering luxury items such as marble fireplaces and kitchen islands, often costing several hundred Hotel Tickets each.
The highest tier includes items most players save Hotel Tickets for. These rewards usually require high Brand Recognition and may have additional unlock conditions.
This tier includes classic Nintendo consoles such as the Famicom, NES, SNES, and Nintendo Switch 2, all of which are playable in-game. Other items include collaboration-themed décor and classic Nintendo toy replicas like the Ultra Hand and Ultra Machine.
Pro Tip: Check the Lobby Displays Daily
Grams displays two featured items physically in the hotel lobby each day. These items are sold at a 30% discount compared to ordering the same item from her catalog, making daily checks worthwhile for saving Hotel Tickets.
After designing your first VIP Room, Hotel Tickets unlock an additional, easily missed feature. If you speak to Kapp'n at the pier after already taking your daily boat tour, he will offer a second tour on the same day in exchange for 100 Hotel Tickets.
This second trip allows players to find extra message bottles, seasonal islands, or rare materials, making it a useful alternative way to spend Hotel Tickets outside the souvenir shop.
