Most Precursor Tablets are not worth listing. The ones that are usually combine a strong mechanic-specific payoff with extra map value, and their rolls hold up against current trade listings.
This guide covers Forbidden Rites softcore in patch 0.5.5. It gives you a repeatable way to sort your stash, identify tablets worth checking, and decide whether to use, sell, or price-check an item.
Price note: Tablet prices move quickly in a fresh league. The ranges here are a starting point for your own trade-site comparison, not guaranteed sale prices. Always check matching listings before posting an item. [Check MMOSO POE2 Items Prices]

Check a tablet in this order:
Expedition is the most important tablet type to learn in 0.5.5. Expedition content is now available in Standard and Forbidden Rites, and multiple Expedition Tablets provide stacking benefits.
Using multiple Expedition Tablets on a map gives these bonuses:
| Expedition Tablets used | Bonus |
| 1 | Adds a Kalguuran Expedition |
| 2 | Adds a Verisium Remnant and 35% increased Kalguuran Expedition density |
| 3 | Adds an additional Kalguuran Expedition |
| 4 | Adds an additional Verisium Remnant and another 35% increased Kalguuran Expedition density |
Increased Expedition density also raises the amount of chests, monster flags, and Verisium Remnants within an Expedition site. That is why Expedition tablets with Verisium-related modifiers are usually the first group to price-check.
Priority Expedition affixes (check in this order):
Extra map modifiers, rare monster count, monster rarity, item rarity, and waystone quantity raise a tablet’s value, but only when paired with a strong Expedition payoff.
Simple rule for Expedition tablets:
Ritual tablets are usually less volatile than top-end Expedition tablets, but they can still sell if they solve a clear problem.
In 0.5.5, using more than one Ritual Tablet can add an extra Altar to a map (where possible) and increases the quantity of Azmeri Wisps collected in the Viridian Wildwood.
Check Ritual tablets for:
A Ritual tablet is usually worth checking when it either improves the Ritual itself or makes your Ritual farming loop more efficient. A single low-value Ritual modifier with no map-wide support is usually better used than listed.
Do not price a tablet from memory. Use this process.
Note the tablet type (Expedition, Ritual, Breach, Delirium, etc.), every explicit modifier and its exact value, whether it is Rare, its current modifier count, and whether it has been modified by an Ancient Infuser. Two tablets can look similar but have very different values if one has high rolls and the other has minimum rolls.
Start with the rarest or most valuable modifier, not the cheapest supporting stat. For Expedition tablets, search first for Additional Verisium Remnants, Additional Verisium Sentries, Additional Expedition bosses, or increased Logbook drops. Then add supporting modifiers one at a time.
Look for the same tablet type, same core payoff, similar roll values, similar modifier count, and similar corruption or Ancient Infuser status. Ignore listings that are clearly mispriced, have been online for a very long time, or have no meaningful similarity to your item.
A listing price is only a seller’s asking price.
| Your goal | Pricing approach |
| Sell fast | Undercut active comparable listings slightly |
| Sell for maximum currency | List near the upper end, but expect a longer wait |
| Use it yourself | Compare the tablet’s value with the currency you would receive by selling it |
| Bulk-clear stash | Use bulk pricing for low- and mid-value tablets |
The fastest way to clean a full stash is to filter by the modifier that creates the biggest decision point, then handle the rest in bulk.
Start by searching for the strongest Expedition payoffs: Verisium Remnant, Verisium Sentries, Expedition bosses, Logbooks.
Then filter separately for map-wide value: additional random Modifiers, Rare Monsters, Monster Rarity, Item Rarity, Waystones.
Do not rely on one regex string for every tablet type. Different mechanics need different filters.
This prevents staring at hundreds of tablets without knowing where to start.
In patch 0.5.5, Precursor Tablets cannot be corrupted with a Vaal Orb. Tablets can be modified unpredictably and corrupted using an Ancient Infuser. That means it is not a guaranteed upgrade.
Consider using an Ancient Infuser only when the tablet already has a strong, desirable modifier set, you understand the result may be worse, and the potential upside justifies the risk for your economy.
Do not corrupt a tablet merely because it is expensive. A high-value tablet has more to lose. Avoid corruption if the tablet already does exactly what you need, you are not sure of the outcomes in the current version, you need the currency from selling it more than a speculative upgrade, or you cannot replace it easily.
A safer approach is to sell a proven high-value tablet and use the proceeds for upgrades you control. If you would rather buy a already-strong tablet instead of gambling, check current listings or browse Path of Exile2 tablets.
You cannot reliably craft a perfect tablet. Farming works by increasing volume, then filtering for the small number of items worth checking.
Look for Atlas passives and map setups that increase the number of tablets found. Relevant options include:
These are more actionable than chasing one perfect tablet drop.
Because two Expedition Tablets add a Verisium Remnant and increase Expedition density, while four add another Remnant and more density, they are worth socketing together if your build can clear the content comfortably.
Practical setup:
A tablet setup that adds too many dangerous mechanics can reduce your actual currency per hour if deaths, slow clears, or failed maps become common. The correct question is not “Which tablet has the highest theoretical value?” It is “Which tablet setup gives me the best return after clear speed, deaths, map cost, and time spent trading?”
| Situation | Better choice |
| You can sell it for enough currency to fund a meaningful upgrade | Sell it |
| You are specifically farming Expedition, Logbooks, or Verisium | Consider using it |
| Your build struggles with the added content | Sell it |
| You already have a proven farming loop and need more volume | Use it |
| The tablet is mid-value and you enjoy the mechanic | Use it |
| The tablet has a rare, high-demand combination | Price-check and likely sell |
A common mistake is treating every high-value tablet as something you must run. If selling it funds a weapon, armour, or Atlas upgrade that improves every future map, selling is often the better economic move. Many players choose to buy PoE2 currency with the proceeds of high-value tablet sales to accelerate upgrades instead of reinvesting everything into more mapping.
For Expedition tablets, additional Verisium Remnants and additional Verisium Sentries are usually the first payoffs to check. For Ritual tablets, extra Altars and reroll-related value are the main reasons to price-check. Map-wide modifiers matter most when they support the tablet’s main mechanic.
Compare the exact modifier combination and roll values with active trade listings. A tablet is only “valuable” if similar items are actively listed and selling at a price that justifies your time.
No. In the current 0.5.5 rules, Precursor Tablets can be modified and corrupted using an Ancient Infuser, not a Vaal Orb.
Only if you accept that the result may be worse. Corruption is a gamble, not a guaranteed upgrade. Selling a proven good tablet is often safer than trying to force a better outcome.
For currency-focused farming, Expedition tablets often deserve priority because Verisium Remnants and Expedition density have clear farming value. Ritual tablets can still be good, especially if they improve Altars, rerolls, or Ritual reward outcomes.
Socket them. Do not spend time listing items that will not produce enough currency to justify the listing effort.
