Apart from the main storyline quests, there are many optional quests in Diablo 2 Remastered from Act 1 to Act 5. These quests do not affect the progress of the character's clearance. Players who pursue fast clearance on single-player or carry through on Battle.net sometimes skip these quests. It is highly recommended to complete those rewarding quests later when you have more time. Some of them that reward skill points are worth completing earlier.
The maximum level for a D2R character is 99. Each time a character levels up from level 1, they will gain 1 skill point. In addition to this, skill points can also be obtained from certain quests that reward them. These quests are Quest 1 in Act 1, Quest 1 in Act 2, and Quest 1 in Act 4.
Many players are familiar with the first quest in Act 1. You only need to kill all the monsters in a cave (Corpse Pit) outside the camp. The famous elite monster "Festering Corpse" is inside. After completing the quest, talking to "Alkara" will reward you with 1 skill point and one free point to reset your skills. Do not use this skill point reset too early to avoid wasting it. There are three free skill point reset chances in total across all difficulties. After using them up, you can only reset your character's attributes and skills through the Pardoner's Medallion.
The first quest in Act 2 is located in the sewers of the town. There is a small station on the second floor of the sewers, and the monster you need to kill is on the third floor. Its special ability is resurrecting Skeletal Warriors. You can directly attack it after clearing some minor monsters. After killing it, it will drop an "Tome of Training" (Multiple uncompleted characters in the team will drop multiple copies, but each character can only pick up one). Using it will reward you with 1 skill point.
The first quest in Act 4 requires you to kill a Fallen Angel named "Izual" in the Plains of Despair. This elite monster is not very difficult, but there is a risk of encountering a large number of "Electrocution" spirits on your way to him or around him. Players with lower equipment should be careful. After completing this quest, talking to Archangel Tyrael in town will reward you with 2 skill points, a total of 6 points across all difficulties.
These three quests reward a total of 4 skill points, which is 12 points across all difficulties. Adding the 98 skill point rewards from leveling up from level 1 to level 99, each character can obtain a maximum of 110 skill points. In addition to these, there are also some other quests that offer good rewards, such as the third act quest that rewards health and 5 attribute points, the fifth act quest for socketing items, and the quest for resistance bonuses, etc.
