There are many types of attributes in Diablo 2 Resurrected equipment, including specific sets, dark gold items, and rune words. The attributes of these items are relatively fixed, but most of them are variable. Most attributes can be understood literally, such as resistance, health, increased damage, increased defense, MF, etc. So, for some equipment that may have +XX% element (fire, lightning, cold) absorption or +XX (fixed value) element absorption attributes, do you know what effect it has?
Equipment with element absorption attributes is also very common, such as the dark gold ring "Dwarf Star" (percentage absorption), the dark gold belt "Mjolnir's Force" (fixed value absorption), and the rune word "Phoenix" (fixed value absorption), etc.
(1) Percentage Absorption
Taking the "Dwarf Star" with a "fire absorption of 15%" attribute as an example, assuming the character's fire resistance is 0, when suffering 200 points of fire damage, the calculated absorption value is 200*15%=30 points. Then the character suffers 170 points of fire damage, and the absorbed 30 points of damage are used to heal the character, restoring 30 points of health. Therefore, the final loss of character health is 140 points.
Assuming the character's fire resistance is 30%, suffering the same 200 points of fire damage, the calculated fire damage is 200*70%=140 points. Comparing it can be seen that its absorption effect is the same as the 30% fire resistance effect. XX% element absorption is like gaining 2 times the XX% resistance. However, due to the single-element absorption limit of 40%, stacking XX% element resistance does not make the character immune to that element damage.
(2) Fixed Value Absorption
This attribute is easier to understand than percentage absorption. It means that every time the character suffers a specific element damage, it can absorb a fixed value of corresponding element damage. For example, both the dark gold necklace "Rising Sun" and the dark gold glove "Hell's Mouth" have attributes that absorb fixed values of fire damage.
When defeating the "Council Member" (Cripple) in Act III Cepheus Curate's lair while wearing these two pieces of equipment at the same time, it greatly improves survivability. Every time the "Nine-Headed Hydra" spell cast by the "Council Member" causes fire damage, it first reduces the fixed value of fire damage before restoring the same amount of health as the absorbed damage to the character.
(3) Order of Elemental Damage Reduction
Taking a top egg wizard as an example, when the character suffers ice, fire, and electric elemental damage, the order of damage reduction and absorption is: PVP penalty》Wizard's "Energy Shield" reduction》equipment spell damage reduction》character resistance reduction》percentage absorption》fixed value absorption. Therefore, comprehensively improving resistance, percentage absorption, and fixed value absorption attributes can greatly enhance the character's survivability.
