Season 12, also called the Season of Slaughter, changes how leveling works in Diablo 4.
The new killstreak bonuses reward players who keep fighting without stopping. The longer your streak continues, the faster enemies melt and the more experience you gain.
Because of this, builds with high mobility and strong AoE damage perform far better during leveling than slower single-target setups.
If you're starting a new character this season, these builds are currently among the fastest ways to push toward level 60.

If you just want a quick reference, here are the strongest leveling builds for each class.
| Class | Strong Leveling Builds |
| Paladin |
Blessed Hammer Retribution Thorns |
| Sorcerer |
Crackling Energy, Hydra |
| Barbarian | Lunging Strike |
| Spiritborn | Evade |
| Rogue | Dance of Knives |
| Necromancer | Minion |
| Druid | Companion |
Below is a closer look at how each of these builds works while leveling.
The Blessed Hammer setup has quickly become the most popular paladin build Diablo 4 players choose for rapid leveling in Season 12.
Once Arbiter form is unlocked through Disciple Oath, this Diablo 4 paladin starts clearing large groups of enemies very quickly. Winged Strike provides excellent mobility, allowing you to move between packs while hammers deal massive area damage.
Retribution Thorns focuses on Blessed Shield and its enhanced skill, Shield of Retribution.
Instead of constantly attacking enemies, this build deals damage automatically based on your Thorns stat. It doesn't clear quite as quickly as Blessed Hammer, but it is extremely durable and requires very little effort to play.
Crackling Energy builds are especially strong in Season 12.
Skills like Ball Lightning, Familiar, and Shocking Impact generate constant passive damage while you move through enemy packs. Combined with Teleport mobility, Sorcerers can maintain killstreaks very easily.
Hydra Sorcerer offers a slightly slower but very consistent leveling experience.
Hydras continue dealing damage while you reposition, allowing you to safely clear enemies without standing still for too long. It also performs surprisingly well even before collecting strong legendary aspects.
Barbarian isn't the fastest class early on, but Lunging Strike helps make leveling much smoother.
The skill allows you to quickly jump between enemies, keeping combat fluid and maintaining steady damage. It also transitions naturally into several strong endgame Barbarian builds later in the season.
Evade Spiritborn is widely considered the fastest leveling setup for this class.
Using the Eagle Spirit Hall, each evade triggers Storm Feathers that damage nearby enemies. Because you are constantly evading through packs, the build feels extremely fast and surprisingly safe.
Many players continue using this setup even after reaching higher difficulties for speed farming.
Dance of Knives Rogue remains one of the fastest leveling builds in Diablo 4.
The build allows you to move quickly while dealing damage to enemies around you, which makes it easy to maintain long killstreak chains. Once you obtain the Aspect of Star Shards, its area damage improves significantly.
Minion Necromancer is one of the easiest builds for leveling.
Your summoned army handles most of the fighting while you support them with curses and corpse abilities. Because the build doesn't rely heavily on rare items, it works extremely well in the early game.
After obtaining Ring of Mendeln, its damage output increases dramatically.
Companion Druid focuses on letting your animal companions handle much of the damage.
You support them with abilities like Lightning Storm, creating large AoE damage while your summons attack enemies around you.
This playstyle works well early on and transitions smoothly into stronger builds later in the season.
As you progress toward level 60, weapon upgrades become increasingly important. Higher damage means faster clears and more consistent killstreak chains.
Rerolling stats, imprinting aspects, and upgrading gear can become expensive. Because of this, some players prepare extra Diablo 4 Gold early in the season so they can continue improving their equipment without slowing down their leveling progress.
