The official release date has been confirmed as May 30, with some regions gaining access on May 29 due to time zone differences. Elden Ring: Nightreign Overview

Elden Ring: Nightreign is a brand-new cooperative action-adventure game developed by FromSoftware. Set in a parallel universe to Elden Ring, it features a completely independent world and game system. This is a journey of the "Nightwalkers," where up to three players can team up to face brutal environments, the dynamic threats of a day-night cycle, and the powerful Lord of Night.

 

The story unfolds in Limveld, a once-thriving land blessed by the gods, now on the brink of collapse. Players take on the role of Nightwalkers, choosing one of eight unique characters and embarking on a journey through the shadows. The world map is a procedurally generated open labyrinth, meaning every new expedition begins in a different location, with varying enemies, events, and bosses each time.

 

Each expedition lasts three full day-night cycles, with each night presenting escalating threats. The final night brings a showdown with the ultimate boss — the Lord of Night. Players must also avoid the Nighttide, a shrinking safe zone that rapidly drains health if you're caught outside its boundaries.

 

Your home base is the Reborn Roundtable Hall, a new take on the iconic hub that hides many secrets. Here, players can use Murk—a currency earned in battle—to upgrade their characters, trade skills with merchants, and customize gear and appearance.

 

Whether you succeed or fail, every expedition yields Relics—permanent upgrades that enhance your Nightwalker, such as boosting starting stats or unlocking initial gear. These can be key to exploiting enemy weaknesses and adapting to Limveld’s evolving challenges.

Nightwalker Character Selection

There are eight playable Nightwalkers in total. Each comes with a unique passive ability, active skill, and ultimate technique. Six characters are available from the start, while the remaining two can be unlocked through progression.

 

Wylder – A melee specialist with a grappling hook and explosive spike throws.

Guardian – A tank-type warrior with a spinning attack and magical barrier to protect allies.

Ironeye – A precision marksman capable of tagging enemies and firing piercing projectiles.

Duchess – A stealthy assassin who can repeat attacks and cloak herself and teammates.

Raider – A berserker who excels at counterattacks and summoning stat-boosting totems.

Recluse – An ancient mage who absorbs elements to cast versatile spells for offense and support.

 

Core Gameplay Features

Supports up to three-player online co-op, with full single-player playability.

Explore to collect Runes to upgrade characters, weapons, passive skills, and powerful items.

Each boss features unique mechanics, demanding strategic team synergy and role coordination.

When a player is downed, teammates can revive them by dealing damage to enemies.

If a character dies during the day, they lose a level.

If the entire party falls at night, the expedition fails completely.
