Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.5 PTR Update Guide - D2R 2.5 & Ladder Season 2 Start Date, Terror Zones Changes, And More

Sep-09-2022

It has been more than a week since Blizzard launched the Diablo 2 Resurrected Patch 2.5 PTR on August 25, but there is still no specific launch date for Ladder 2 and D2R 2.5 now. However, we can see some clues in a recent update by community manager PezRadar, in which he talked about player feedback on the Terror Zones. In this 2.5 update guide, we dive into Ladder D2R Season 2 and Patch 2.5 start dates, new or removed Terror Zones, and more.

D2R Ladder Patch 2.5 and Season 2 Start Dates

Before Blizzard officially announces them, it won't be so easy to pinpoint the Diablo 2: Resurrected Season 2 start and Season 1 end dates. The developer's original plan was for each season to last about four months, but that didn't quite go according to plan, with the first season still running as of now.

In PezRadare's post, he said the team had a lot of confusion over the timing of Season 2, and that they didn't plan well for the end of that date, but were also looking at mitigating the issue in future seasons of D2R. The team's current plan is to end the D2R 2.5 PTR as soon as possible and start submitting the final build of 2.5 and release it to everyone in the live environment. D2R Ladder Season 2 will begin a week or two after the official release of D2R Patch 2.5, and Season 2 will begin immediately after the end of Season 1( For example: If Season 1 ends at 4:59:59 PM PT, then Season 2 will begin Starts at 5:00:00 PM PT). All of this should come shortly after the PTR itself. More accurate dates and schedules will be provided next week. Let's wait and see!

D2R Terror Zones Change: add or move some zones & more

Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.5 Patch will introduce new content to the ARPG in the form of the new Terror Zones feature. The Horror Zones is another way to reach level 99 in case you get tired of farming Baal and other bosses. If you have this enabled in your game, you'll see these areas pop up in certain areas every hour, increasing the monster's level, which in turn increases experience gained and loot dropped.

In feedback, players said that some areas were not great for Terror Zones, and some areas could be better, so the team planned some to be moved out and some others to be moved in. Players who found some Terror Zones to be easy, many of them from Hammerdin players. The team will come up with some ideas for this, the specifics are waiting to be announced, but hopefully, it will create some build and class opportunities for players. Also, Blizzard will implement unlock conditions for terror zones, and how long each zone will be terrorized. Regarding the length, some people think terror zones should be terrorized shorter so it rotates more, while others think it should be longer and if you have a good build you can play for longer. In addition to that, the team noticed that many of the voices wanted horror zones to feature in single-player, not just multiplayer. In the post, PezRadar stated that this feature is being looked into, but the XP values and requirements for single-player games are different, and they will make sure to do this work for Ladder play first, and then for offline games.

The above content is the important information mentioned by PezRadar in his post. We can use this information to understand the next journey, and I believe it will be more interesting. While it's not yet known whether Diablo II: Resurrected Patch 2.5 will be released in September, more details will definitely be revealed by Blizzard in the coming week.
