In D2R, we may choose to carry Charms to enhance the properties of Summoning Skills. Taking the Necromancer as an example, firstly, Summoning Skills follow a snapshot mechanism. This means that the moment the summoning skill is cast, the state of the summoned Necroskeletons is determined. Regardless of how your skill changes afterwards, it will no longer affect the current summoned Necroskeletons. It's like taking a photo - the moment the shutter is pressed, the image is frozen. No matter how the scenery changes afterwards, the photo will remain the same. For example, when the Necromancer summons an Ice Skeleton without bring Cold Rupture, as soon as it is summoned, it is determined that it cannot deal damage to monsters with cold immunity. Even if we equip Sundering Charm later, we cannot change the properties of the summoned creatures. Conversely, when the player equips Cold Rupture and summons an Ice Skeleton, it can be observed that it gains the ability to reduce all enemies’ cold resistance. Even if the Cold Rupture is removed, it still retains the effect. This indicates that when players want the summoned skeletons to sunder physical immunity, they must always carry Sunder Charm in the inventory before summoning Necroskeletons.
After summoning, they can place the Sundering Charm into the Horadric Cube, which ensures that the skeletons can sunder physical immunity without suffering from negative values on resistance. As for the Mercenary, he is not affected by the properties of Charm since he is not a summoned creature.
Due to the existence of the snapshot mechanism, many players like to stack skills before summoning the Iron Golem to make the summoned Iron Golem stronger. However, this practice is meaningless. Each time the player logs in, the system will re-evaluate the properties of the summoned creatures based on the player's current skill level.
In summary, summoned creatures operate on the snapshot mechanism, where their attributes are determined at the moment of summoning. Each time the player logs in, the system re-evaluates the properties of the summoned creatures. Mercenary does not share the effects of any Charm in the inventory.
