Which shield should a summoning Necromancer choose in Diablo 2 Resurrected?

Jan-18-2024

The summoning Necromancer is one of the few ways to clear Hell difficulty in Diablo 2 Resurrected with only poor equipment, and even beginners who have no operational level and do not understand equipment matching can easily challenge various scenes of lower difficulty. In addition, the late-stage summoning Necromancer equipped with powerful equipment is also very cool and handsome to play, so it is deeply loved by both new players and old players.

It should be noted that the gameplay of the summoning Necromancer is mainly reflected in "summoning", which means to summon minions as the main task and try to assist in improving their output and survival capabilities as much as possible. Therefore, the most common late-game equipment combination is the combination of many players' well-known "Ring of Royal Grandeur" and "Five Strand", which actually has only four rings if the single-target damage reflection ring of Thammoth is removed. They are "Wild Animal" (Frenzy Spirit), "Infinity" (Belief Spirit), the inherent spirit of the mercenary, and "Proud" Thammoth (Concentration Spirit). Of course, in addition to these two major pieces of equipment, the equipment on other parts of the character is also crucial. Taking the shield as an example, in addition to the general shield, the Necromancer also has three unique dark gold quality shields, namely "Homunculus", "Bone Flame", and "Darkforce Spawn". So if you have all three shields at the same time, which one should the summoning Necromancer choose?

Let's take a look at the main characteristics of these three shields:

Homunculus: +2 Necromancer skills, high block rate, high resistance, high defense (even higher after upgrading with a 200% enhanced defense bonus), high mana recovery (increases 33% mana recovery speed and EK property that restores mana after killing), which can greatly improve the survival and endurance of the Necromancer. Moreover, the Homunculus is an extended level equipment, which can be obtained in Nightmare difficulty and is relatively easy to obtain compared to the other two.

Bone Flame: Up to +3 Necromancer skills (the skill has variable values), high movement attribute. Although it also has resistance and enhanced defense bonuses, these two attributes are lower than those of the Homunculus. Because of its high movement attribute, before obtaining the Ring of Royal Grandeur, it can be used for running around and blowing up cows. However, due to the lack of blockage and mana recovery attributes, the survival ability and endurance drop significantly. If you already have the Ring of Royal Grandeur, then there is even less advantage. This shield is elite-level equipment, and it is not so easy to get in Hell difficulty without 3 skills. It has no retention value if it is not 3 skills.

Darkforce Spawn: Up to three skills increased by 3 for each attribute (three variable skill values, extremely rare full set), 30% fast casting speed, mana limit increase, and enhanced defense bonuses. The variable skill value is a big pitfall, while the fast casting speed is a bright spot. However, for summoning gameplay, it does not need to stack too high "Teleport" casting level. Just reach 75% fast casting speed (the next level is 125%). Poisonous Skeleton Mages who pursue high casting levels can use it. This shield belongs to one of the "Top 20" in Diablo 2, with a low drop rate. Players who like collecting it are worth keeping! Comparing the comprehensive attributes, it can be seen that the Homunculus has the highest practicality and the lowest difficulty of acquisition, making it the first choice for summoning Necromancer gameplay.
