Concussive Runes changed herald mapping in 0.5 — and Lightning Spear Ritualist is the cleanest Huntress entry point we have seen.
This guide walks through the skill links, the stun loop, and where Ritualist jewellery actually helps.
If you map on Huntress and skipped herald chaining after 0.2, 0.5 is the patch to look again.

Deadeye still wins raw speed ladders. Ritualist wins jewellery scaling — and that matters when stun, lightning damage, and ward rolls live on rings.
Two ascendancy nodes define the pairing:
Unfurled Finger — +1 Ring Slot on the Ritualist path
Mystic Attunement — 25% increased bonuses from equipped rings and amulets
Lightning Spear stays your main attack. The extra ring slot is there for stats that make Heavy Stun and shockwave uptime easier — not because herald chaining requires three rings by itself.
If you already have strong rare rings from mapping, Ritualist converts that investment into faster stun breakpoints without swapping your whole tree.
Since 0.2, Herald skills cannot proc off other Herald kills.
They need a non-Herald attack hit — and Concussive Runes supplies one on Heavy Stun.
The loop in practice:
Lightning Spear builds Heavy Stun on the pack
Concussive Runes releases a Runic Shockwave — a non-Herald attack
Herald of Ice or Thunder procs from that hit, depending on your links
The next proc usually needs another non-Herald hit — often the next shockwave
You can also link Concussive Runes directly to a Herald skill.
Then herald damage feeds stun, stun feeds shockwave, shockwave feeds the next proc.
That is stun-driven chaining — not Ice and Thunder killing each other back and forth.
Lightning Spear is the manual engine — hits, stun buildup, and map pace.
Supports to prioritize:
Concussive Runes — shockwave on Heavy Stun
Stun support tiers — more Heavy Stun uptime
Area or fork-style coverage — more bodies in range
Elemental Armament — extra hit layers where your build uses it
Stun Buildup varies with tree and gear — read your character panel, not a copied stat target.
White maps forgive weak stun; red packs expose gaps immediately.
If shockwaves rarely fire, add stun before adding damage.
Dual heralds give wider pack coverage; a single herald plus Concussive Runes can self-loop.
Slotting checklist:
Herald of Ice needs a non-Herald shatter hit; Herald of Thunder needs a non-Herald shocked kill.
Dual heralds work when your build keeps landing those non-Herald hits — not when heralds trade kills.
Start with one herald until shockwaves feel consistent, then add the second for pack width.
Unfurled Finger opens a third ring slot — usually after a penalty node on the ascendancy path.
Strong early ring directions:
Concussive Runes shockwaves spend Runic Ward.
If shockwaves stop mid-map, ward is empty — Kalguur remnant pieces or Call of the Void help recovery.
Budget first for shockwave uptime, then chase damage uniques.
Ritualist rewards good rings; the third slot is scaling, not a free carry.
Path area, stun, and herald nodes before luxuries on your tree.
Bond of the Ape and Discipline and Training widen herald reach when your path passes nearby.
Layer evasion and energy shield on mapping gear while you learn shockwave timing.
Deflection, life, and movement speed beat glass rares during your first red-map tests.
Mapping and bosses use different buttons.
Keep Primal Strikes for rares and gate bosses — herald procs are pack tools.
Fail points to watch:
Open maps teach shockwave range fast. Corridor layouts punish lazy pathing — cut corners and hit packs before you backtrack for loot.
Testing Lightning Spear Ritualist herald chaining means buying a few support gems and ring upgrades before your first red map push.
If you would rather run maps than grind trade for each piece, MMOSO's Path of Exile 2 currency and item services can shorten the setup window.
Slot Concussive Runes first — everything else in this build follows from shockwaves firing.
Lightning Spear Ritualist herald chaining is worth mapping on in 0.5: one spear attack, Concussive Runes shockwaves, heralds for pack damage.
Run a few open maps, confirm Heavy Stun and Runic Ward stay stable, then tune supports and rings from there — that is the whole build thesis in one sentence.
