How to trigger Baal quest bug in Diablo 2 Remastered?

Dec-12-2023

How do I exploit the first kill bug for Baal in the D2R? There are many different bosses in the game, and each boss will drop with different items and runes. Among them, some players have discovered that they can use first kill bug to avoid finishing the quest, and then farm items and runes. Many players want to know how to exploit the first kill bug.

In the Battle.net mode of Diablo 2 Remastered, the 4th and 5th acts of Hell difficulty are common level for late-game teams to upgrade. Characters with decent equipment can easily farm the monsters summoned by Baal in the "Throne of Destruction", which is also a level 85 area that can drop all items and runes except for specific items.

Baal is level 99 and the only boss in the game who can drop all items and runes. Although Baal has a high drop rate for items, since there is only one Baal, it is rare to obtain rare items and high-level runes without exploiting the first kill bug. Of course, while farming in multiplayer mode, it's recommended to include Baal for a chance to exploit the bug and increase drop rates significantly.

When killing a boss for the first time in each act, including Baal, they will not drop consumables such as gold or potions. Instead, the drop rate of non-first kill items or runes significantly increases.

Exploiting the first kill bug for Baal is a bit troublesome and requires at least two characters to complete. Character A, who has completed the Hell difficulty Baal quest, must create a game room (after completing the last quest of Act 5). Then, character B, who has not completed this quest, can join the game and kill Baal together. Here are a few ways to exploit the first kill bug:

(1) Create a character B who hasn't completed the last quest of Act 5 and find a public game room in the lobby. As long as it shows that the quest can't be completed, you can safely farm Baal. However, this method requires a high level of gameplay ability for character B.

(2) Have character A, who has completed the quest, create a game room. After farming the team in the "Throne of Destruction" or other areas, record the room and exit. The system will keep the room for a certain period of time. Then, have character B, who hasn't completed the quest, enter the room. This method is similar to the first one, but the difference is that you create the game room with your own character.

(3) Register and purchase two accounts, and prepare character A who has completed the quest and character B who hasn't. Let character A create a game room, and then have character B join the room to kill Baal. You can choose different methods for multi-boxing, such as using two computers, virtual machines, or software like Process Explorer.

If you find all these methods troublesome or prefer solo play, you can farm the small monsters in level 85 areas for crafting materials and runes. Going to the Cow Level is also a good idea as killing more monsters will increase the quality of drops.
