Updated October 2026 for Diablo 2 Resurrected, Reign of the Warlock, including Renewed sunder charms.
This Lightning Fury Javazon guide is for Hell farming. It covers the Amazon that clears the Secret Cow Level and Arcane Sanctuary, then moves into the Pit, Chaos Sanctuary, and Terror Zones once one more item is in place. It is a walking Hell farmer, not an Uber or max-block build. Griffon's Eye, a four-socket facet shield, and 89% increased attack speed are later replacements. They are not the cost of entering Hell.
Lightning Fury throws a javelin that releases lightning bolts on every monster near the impact. Pierce lets that javelin pass through and release another burst on the next monster. Charged Strike is the boss skill. Titan's Revenge, Razortail, and a 52% increased attack speed breakpoint are the Hell kit. Infinity and a lightning sunder charm are how you stop skipping lightning-immune packs.

Dense packs die in one or two throws. The Secret Cow Level has that density, and Hell cows have no natural lightning-immune monsters, so the build earns before it owns a sunder charm.
Bosses do not require a second build. Charged Strike handles Diablo, Baal, and champions. Cow packs stay on Lightning Fury.
The expensive pieces can wait. Insight solves mana. One point in Pierce plus Razortail solves the clear. Titan's Revenge is the first weapon that feels like the build. Griffon's Eye, Infinity, and Renewed Crack of the Heavens are bought from cow profits.
Take one point in each prerequisite as it unlocks, then follow the order below. Leave the bow and crossbow tree empty. Pierce and Valkyrie do not need those skills. If a skill-tree image shows Guided Arrow, Multiple Shot, or Strafe, it is the wrong tree for this guide.
| Skill | Hard points | Job in Hell |
| Lightning Fury | 20, first | Cows and every dense pack |
| Charged Strike | 20, second | Diablo, Baal, champions |
| Lightning Strike, Lightning Bolt, Power Strike | 20 each, after the two main skills | Synergies. Each hard point adds 1% lightning damage to Lightning Fury. The same points add far more to Charged Strike. |
| Pierce | 1 | Clear speed, together with Razortail |
| Valkyrie | 1 | A body that holds aggro |
| Jab, Poison Javelin, Plague Javelin | 1 each | Pass-through points in the javelin tree. They unlock Lightning Fury and Lightning Strike, then you stop. |
| Inner Sight, Slow Missiles, Dodge, Avoid, Evade | 1 each | Passives. One point each on the way to Valkyrie, then stop. |
| Critical Strike, Penetrate, Decoy | 1 each | Pass-through points in the passive tree. Penetrate unlocks Pierce. Decoy unlocks Valkyrie and clumps cows. |
Put one point in Charged Strike at level 18 so bosses die while you level. Put one point in Lightning Fury at level 30 and max it before the synergies. Item bonuses raise Lightning Fury's own level and its bolt count. Synergy bonuses read hard points only.
Pierce, with the numbers. Pierce at skill level 1 is 23%. At skill level 9 it is 69%. Razortail adds 33% piercing attack. The two add together and cap at 100%, so 69% + 33% is a full cap. One hard point reaches skill level 9 when +all skills and +Amazon skills add eight levels. +Javelin and Spear skills do not raise Pierce, so javelin grand charms do not help this number.
A realistic Hell kit is already close. Titan's Revenge (+2 to Amazon skills), a Spirit shield (+2 to all skills), and Highlord's Wrath (+1 to all skills) make that one point skill level 6: 59% + 33% from Razortail = 92%. Harlequin Crest adds another +2 and lands at 98%. Annihilus or an Amazon torch covers the last step to the cap. Cows feel fine from about 90% upward. Extra hard points in Pierce are a last resort, after the lightning synergies are maxed.
Only what the shield you are wearing requires. Spirit Monarch needs 156 strength. Stay on a lower-strength shield until the rest of the kit exists, and let +strength from gear cover part of that 156.
Enough to equip Titan's Revenge, which requires 109 dexterity. The +20 dexterity on the javelin does not count toward equipping it. Stop after the requirement. A Stormshield max-block setup is a different build.
Every leftover point. You can open Hell cows before you own Call to Arms. Once that swap is in place, Battle Orders is what makes life comfortable.
None. An Insight mercenary regenerates mana. Potions cover a long pack. Mana leech returns mana only from the physical part of the hit, so it will not carry Lightning Fury on its own.
Titan's Revenge is a ceremonial javelin with base weapon speed -10. Lightning Fury and Charged Strike do not share a frame table. Attack speed does nothing until it crosses the next line on the skill you are using.
| Increased attack speed | Frames per throw | What it means in Hell |
| 0% | 14 | Leveling |
| 6% | 13 | Small step |
| 16% | 12 | Any 20% gloves already pass this |
| 30% | 11 | Fine for early Hell cows |
| 52% | 10 | Hell farming target. Stop here. |
| 89% | 9 | The only faster Fury frame. Skip it. |
| Increased attack speed | Frames per strike |
| 0% | 11 |
| 10% | 10 |
| 26% | 9 |
| 50% | 8 |
| 95% | 7 |
Gloves with 20% increased attack speed plus Highlord's Wrath (another 20%) reach 40%. That is already past the 30% Lightning Fury line. One 15% IAS jewel in the helm makes 55%, which is 10 frames on Lightning Fury and 8 frames on Charged Strike. That single jewel finishes both skills for Hell. There is no Lightning Fury breakpoint at 60%. The next Fury frame is 89%, and cow runs do not pay it back. 95% Charged Strike is a boss luxury.
Faster hit recovery. 52% is the Hell target for an Amazon. 86% is one frame faster and optional. Spirit includes 55% faster hit recovery, so the shield you already want clears 52% by itself.
Faster cast rate. This matters when Enigma is equipped and you teleport. The Amazon breakpoint worth buying is 68%. A cow route you walk does not need it.
Later names on this list are stronger. They are worse purchases while the earlier lines are empty.
Insight on the mercenary, and resists on you. Smoke (Nef + Lum) is the armor that gets a new Amazon through the first Hell sessions. Lionheart (Hel + Lum + Fal) is the alternative when a Fal is already sitting in the stash. Lore (Ort + Sol) or a Valkyrie Wing covers the helm. Valkyrie Wing is a cheap source of +2 to Amazon skills. Rhyme (Shael + Eth) is a reasonable shield until 156 strength is easy.
Razortail is one of the most important early upgrades for a Lightning Fury Javazon. Its 33% Piercing Attack lets your javelin pass through more monsters, giving Lightning Fury more chances to hit dense cow packs. Before spending heavily on skill charms or magic find gear, prioritize this belt if you don't have reliable Pierce yet.
If you're ready to upgrade, check out Razortail for D2R and make Pierce a priority in your Hell farming setup.
Titan's Revenge is the first major weapon upgrade for a Lightning Fury Javazon moving into Hell farming. Its +2 to Amazon Skills and +2 to Javelin and Spear Skills boost Lightning Fury and Charged Strike, while 30% Faster Run/Walk, life leech, and replenished quantity make long cow runs more comfortable.
If your current javelin is holding back your clear speed, check out Titan's Revenge for D2R as your next weapon upgrade. A standard, non-ethereal Titan's Revenge is a practical choice for starting Hell farming; you don't need to pay extra for an ethereal version just to get started.
An ethereal Titan's Revenge is a later upgrade to consider if you want more physical damage and the resulting potential for better life leech. Its ethereal status does not increase Lightning Fury's lightning damage, and replenished quantity helps keep the javelin usable. Focus on the rest of your core farming setup before spending extra on an ethereal copy.
Players call these 2/20 gloves. They are the pair that makes 52% attack speed a normal purchase. Magic 3/20 gloves are the same slot, bought later. Laying of Hands can hold the 20% attack speed while you look for the +skills pair. Treachery itself provides a flat +45% IAS, so it can count toward the breakpoint. But using it as your armor means giving up Smoke or Lionheart, and you still lack the +skills from 2/20 gloves.
Highlord's Wrath supplies the other 20% increased attack speed and +1 to all skills. Deadly strike on that amulet affects the physical hit, so the reasons to buy it are the attack speed and the skill. A 15% IAS jewel closes 52%. Spirit Monarch is the Hell shield: +2 skills, mana, resists, and 55% faster hit recovery. Raven Frost stops cows from freezing you. For the second ring, a rare ring with lightning resist and life is the sensible Hell choice.
Griffon's Eye is the helmet: +1 to all skills, 25% faster cast rate, 10–15% lightning skill damage, and -15% to -20% enemy lightning resistance. Once monsters sit at very high lightning resist, the resistance line is the one that changes kill speed. Harlequin Crest remains the magic-find helm for pure cow runs. Chains of Honor is the defensive armor. Enigma is the armor for routes that need Teleport, mainly Arcane Sanctuary, Chaos Sanctuary, and Worldstone Keep.
A Jeweler's Monarch of Deflecting with four 5/5 lightning facets gives +20% lightning skill damage and -20% enemy lightning resistance. Use lightning facets. Death facets add nothing here. That shield comes after Griffon's Eye and Infinity, not after your first Hell cow.
Keep lightning resist and life on small charms until Hell feels safe. Buy damage after that.
Javelin and spear skill grand charms raise Lightning Fury and Charged Strike. They do not raise Pierce. Annihilus and an Amazon Hellfire Torch are the unique charms to add when the rest of the cow kit exists. The torch's Amazon skills do raise Pierce.
Renewed Crack of the Heavens is the lightning sunder charm, cubed from a Latent Crack of the Heavens. Hell cows do not need it. Buy it when you want the Pit, Chaos Sanctuary, and Terror Zones without skipping lightning immunes.
Buy the roll with -5% to -10% enemy lightning resistance. Read that line first. The rest of the charm can be ordinary. A sundered lightning-immune monster is set to 95% lightning resistance, so 5% of your lightning damage gets through. A -10% roll moves that monster to 85%, and 15% of your damage gets through. A +lightning skill damage roll leaves the monster at 95%.
The charm also puts a fixed -70% lightning resistance on you. Cover it with the shield, armor, and small charms. Only one Renewed sunder charm can sit in your inventory or personal stash. Griffon's Eye then applies its full -15% to -20% on top, because enemy resistance on gear works at the listed value once the immunity is broken.
Every other affix is optional. The charm rolls one line from each group:
Hire a Nightmare Act 2 mercenary. Holy Freeze makes early Hell cows safer. Might is fine if that mercenary is already the one you have.
Before Infinity, equip Insight (Ral + Tir + Tal + Sol) in a polearm. Meditation is the mana plan for Lightning Fury. Give him a life-leech helm and a resist armor, such as Treachery, so the aura stays up.
Infinity is the purchase that changes which zones are worth running. Conviction lowers enemy lightning resistance, and it replaces Holy Freeze or Might, so the original aura is gone once the polearm is equipped. On monsters that were lightning immune, Conviction works at one-fifth of its normal strength after the sunder charm breaks that immunity. It is still the right aura. It is a poor first purchase for a character whose route is cows and Arcane Sanctuary. Buy it when immune packs in Chaos, Worldstone, and Terror Zones are the runs you want.
Call to Arms goes on weapon swap with a Spirit shield. Cast Battle Orders at the start of a run. Pick it up after Titan's Revenge and Insight.
The home run, and the one to repeat until Infinity. Hell cows are not naturally lightning immune, and the density is what Pierce and Lightning Fury are for. Portal, loop, and player count are in the Javazon cow route below.
Few lightning-immune monsters, and the ghosts are a rune run you can start before Infinity. A teleport staff on swap makes the paths shorter. Walking still works.
Area level is high enough to drop the gear on this list. Some packs are lightning immune. Skip those packs, and keep cows as the default, until Renewed Crack of the Heavens or Infinity is equipped.
Lightning Fury for the packs, Charged Strike for Diablo and Baal. Lightning-immune monsters show up often enough that these zones come after the sunder charm or Infinity. Throne of Destruction waves stay on Lightning Fury.
This is the content the renewed sunder charm is for. With Titan's Revenge and Razortail alone, reroll a zone full of lightning immunes and return to cows. With the enemy-resistance sunder, and later Infinity, you stop rerolling.
Hell cows are the default run from your first Titan's Revenge until Infinity. The map is different every game, so the route is a loop, not a fixed set of turns.
Open the portal. Kill Baal once in the difficulty you want to farm. In Tristram, take Wirt's Leg from his corpse. In town, cube that leg with a Tome of Town Portal. A red portal opens beside you. In Diablo 2 Resurrected, killing the Cow King still leaves the next portal available.
Clear in one direction. From the portal, cast Decoy into the nearest pack and throw Lightning Fury into the clump. Step back and throw again while Pierce carries the javelin through the line. Then walk the outer edge of the level and keep going the same way. Herd the next pack with Decoy before you throw. Follow that edge until you are back near the portal.
Leave the strays. One cow at the edge of the screen is a long walk for one throw. When the packs that remain are scattered, save and exit, cube a new portal, and start the loop again.
Player count and magic find. Offline, /players 7 puts more items on the ground because fewer monsters drop nothing. Rarity still comes from magic find. Online, more players in the game do the same job as /players 7. Stay in Razortail for the clear. War Traveler and Harlequin Crest are the magic-find swap once the 52% attack-speed breakpoint is already met.
89% attack speed, the facet monarch, and ethereal Titan's Revenge are replacements funded by this list.
Need Gear for Your Lightning Fury Javazon?
Building a Hell-ready Javazon is easier when you upgrade the right items first. Start with the essentials for Lightning Fury and Pierce, then work toward specialized gear for lightning-resistant areas as your farming goals expand.

52% increased attack speed with Titan's Revenge. Lightning Fury throws at 10 frames. 30% is acceptable while the gloves and amulet are still on the way. The next Fury frame is 89%.
Yes. The Secret Cow Level and Arcane Sanctuary are the pre-Infinity farms. Infinity is for Chaos Sanctuary, Worldstone Keep, and Terror Zones.
One hard point in Pierce, enough +all skills and +Amazon skills to reach Pierce skill level 9 (69%), and Razortail's 33%. The sum caps at 100%. Javelin skillers do not add Pierce.
-5% to -10% enemy lightning resistance. Your own penalty is a fixed -70% lightning resistance. Keep a single Renewed sunder in your inventory or personal stash.
No. A standard Titan's Revenge is the Hell weapon. The ethereal version is a later replacement: more physical damage, better leech, the same replenish quantity, and no added lightning damage.
