With Curse of the Allflame launch approaching, do you need a full nine-slot Voyage board before burning your first batch of Charts?
Patch 3.29 adds underwater Chart runs and a nine-slot Voyage Board on The Sovereign. This guide explains Chart batching, board layout logic and Corruption Currents, sharing custom build-focused planning rather than generic pre-league profit spreadsheets.

Lost Charts drop in campaign zones and endgame content. Each Chart starts a short seafloor dive from a bathysphere, a protective underwater exploration bubble.
You expand the bubble by placing Allflame Lanterns.
Leaving the active light zone too long causes rapid drowning pressure.
Place your last lantern and bubbles collapse from newest to oldest, pushing you back toward extraction. Loot you generate can vacuum to the surface through extraction devices during the run.
Ghost-flame hints help loot-focused routes find nearby chests before collapse.
After you scout enough modifier varieties, Val on The Sovereign unlocks the Voyage Board, letting you chain up to nine Charts into one coordinated planned voyage.
Zones commonly hold one or two Charts. Valerie hands over your first Chart early in Act 1, unlocking this mechanic long before endgame maps. Charts scale within fixed level bands to stay usable while leveling.
You do not need to run every Chart immediately. Many players batch Charts around act breakpoints to plan complete board runs, instead of running nine disconnected single dives. Saving roughly ten Charts for dedicated planning sessions improves overall efficiency.
The board functions as a grid: every Chart occupies one square with a unique implicit modifier after deployment. Modifiers split into two categories: adjacent-only buffs and voyage-wide global effects. Adjacent bonuses only impact connected squares; voyage-wide buffs apply to the entire run.
For consistent profitable runs, plan layouts backward from your core target reward:
Corruption Currents are randomized border effects that refresh every time you open the Voyage Board. They only apply to Charts placed along that board edge, and do not alter the modifiers printed on individual Charts.
Read all Corruption Current text before placing any Charts. A border effect that adds extra currency from rare monsters only delivers value when the adjacent Chart spawns enough rares your build can defeat. Stack adjacency deliberately: a rare-spawn Chart paired with a rare-drop Corruption Current outperforms two unrelated buffs placed on opposite corners.
Corruption Currents reset for every voyage session. Yesterday's functional layout is only a loose suggestion, not a reusable permanent template. Re-examine all border modifiers at the start of every planning cycle.
Chart dive zones may include themed reward chests, experience gains, Diviner's Strongboxes and Ducat-related crafting rewards aboard The Sovereign, depending on current league tuning. Official preview numbers remain subject to balance shifts ahead of full launch.
Official challenge-league documentation categorizes Voyage as core league content. Standard league characters cannot expect identical Chart and board access compared to challenge league accounts. Adjust your planning if you alternate between SC and SSF gameplay.
Starter: Learn lantern positioning on single Chart dives; avoid filling all nine slots during league week one.
Mid: Lock in one anchor destination, pair it with two adjacent buffs, and master one repeatable Corruption Current synergy tested on prior runs.
BiS: Build fully repeatable nine-Chart boards with zero deaths, and log which low-value Corruption Currents to skip entirely.
When Chart supplies run thin during repeated layout testing, some players use trading options to continue experimenting without delayed progression, and many pick up Path of Exile currency via MMOSO for consistent farming supplies.
Scout modifier effects on spare low-risk Charts, cap all elemental resistances, and confirm your mobility skills fit your chosen loot or speed route. Before committing to full nine-Chart boards, test a small voyage, record your results, and adjust your layout based on clear speed, deaths, and rewards.
