Path of Exile: Keepers of the Flame (3.27) has arrived, and with it comes one of the biggest additions to character customization in years — Bloodline Ascendancies.

This new feature introduces ten powerful secondary Ascendancy classes that players can unlock by defeating specific endgame bosses. Once obtained, a Bloodline can be combined with any primary Ascendancy, giving you massive build flexibility and new ways to play every class.

If you haven't unlocked your first Bloodline yet, don't worry — this guide explains everything you need to know, including how to unlock them, what each one does, and why they matter.

 

 

What Are Bloodline Ascendancies?

Bloodline Ascendancies are secondary Ascendancy classes that grant unique passive bonuses. You can think of them as a new Ascendancy tree that shares the same points as your main class Ascendancy (e.g., Necromancer, Champion, Trickster).

That means you'll need to choose whether to spend points in your main Ascendancy or invest them in your Bloodline tree — or mix both for hybrid builds.

 

Key Features:

Unlocked per character by defeating the corresponding boss.

No class restrictions — any Bloodline can be used by any class.

Switch freely after unlocking new Bloodlines.

Bloodline points share the same pool as your main Ascendancy and can be reset anytime using Regret Orbs or gold at Faustus.

 

Once a Bloodline boss is defeated, an altar will appear near the encounter. Interacting with it permanently unlocks that Bloodline for the current character.

 

How to Unlock Bloodline Ascendancies in Path of Exile 3.27

Each Bloodline is tied to a specific endgame boss or mechanic. Some are easy to find, while others require patience, special scarabs, or deep Delve exploration. Here's how to unlock them all:

 

1. Oshabi Bloodline (Harvest)

Defeat Oshabi, Avatar of the Grove using a Sacred Blossom in your Map Device. You'll find her after completing Tier 4 Harvest bosses.

➡ Grants faster spell release, Unleash efficiency, and Rage generation — a great pick for hybrid melee-casters or fast-clearing spell builds.

Tip: Use Harvest Scarabs to increase your chance of finding Oshabi.

 

2. Chaos Bloodline (Ultimatum)

Face The Trialmaster in Tier 14+ Ultimatums, found in maps with "Contains an Ultimatum Encounter."

➡ Enhances Vaal Skills, boosts corrupted items, and increases chaos resistance. Perfect for Vaal RF, Corrupting Fever, or dark-themed builds.

Tip: Use Ultimatum Scarab of Duelling for higher spawn rates.

 

3. Aul Bloodline (Delve)

Deep in the Azurite Mine (depth 130+), locate Aul, the Crystal King in Primeval Ruins.

➡ Offers charge-based aura bonuses, elemental immunity uptime, and stronger movement buffs. Ideal for aura stackers and tanky support builds.

Tip: Farm Primeval nodes below depth 200 for the best Aul spawn odds.

 

4. Lycia Bloodline (Sanctum)

Defeat Lycia, Herald of the Scourge in the Forbidden Sanctum by using a high-tier Forbidden Tome.

➡ Improves curses, Chaos DoT, and Herald effects — perfect for Occultists or curse-heavy setups.

Tip: Higher-tier tomes have better loot and higher Bloodline altar chances.

 

5. Delirious Bloodline (Simulacrum)

Complete all waves of a Simulacrum encounter (created from 300 Simulacrum Splinters).

➡ Provides delayed damage protection, stacking damage bonuses, and delirium scaling. Excellent for tanky builds or chaos-based spellcasters.

Tip: Use Delirium Orbs and Scarabs to farm splinters faster.

 

6. Olroth Bloodline (Expedition)

Fight Olroth, Origin of the Fall in level 81+ Logbooks under the Knights of the Sun.

➡ Strengthens Ward mechanics, defensive explosions, and recovery. Great for Ward-based or counterattack builds.

Tip: Run Logbooks with "Contains Knights of the Sun" for a better chance at Olroth.

 

7. Catarina Bloodline (Betrayal)

Defeat Catarina, Master of Undeath in the Mastermind's Lair, unlocked through the Syndicate investigation board.

➡ Boosts minion survivability, Offering effects, and corpse explosion scaling — a top choice for summoners.

Tip: Promote Syndicate leaders to Tier 3 before taking down their Safehouses for best loot and progress.

 

8. Farrul Bloodline (Bestiary)

Capture beasts to open Farrul's Den, then defeat Farrul, First of the Plains.

➡ Increases Warcry damage, minion synergy, and overall attack speed. Excellent for hybrid melee-minion builds.

Tip: Use Einhar missions early in the league — Farrul's Den is one of the fastest Bloodlines to unlock.

 

9. Breachlord Bloodline (Breach)

Defeat Esh and Tul together inside the new Hive Colony area or through Breachstones.

➡ Combines Lightning and Cold scaling with hybrid elemental defenses. Perfect for Inquisitor or Elementalist builds.

Tip: Pure or Charged Breachstones guarantee boss spawns.

 

10. Nameless Bloodline (Ritual)

Use An Audience With The King in your Map Device to fight The King in the Mists.

➡ Offers extreme chaos power at the cost of item slot efficiency — high-risk, high-reward for chaos builds.

Tip: Run maps with Ritual altars and Ritual Scarabs to farm this invitation.

 

How to Respec or Switch Bloodlines

You can respec Bloodline points just like Ascendancy points:

Use 5 refund points from quests,

5 Regret Orbs, or

Pay a gold fee to Faustus.

Pro tip: Below level 83, Faustus' gold cost is reasonable. After level 90, it becomes expensive — stick to Regret Orbs for efficiency.
